Summer holidays are here and there is so much going on in the North York Moors. Here is our roundup of some of the best events this Summer. 

Friday 22nd July - Friday 28th July

The Ryedale Trad Jazz Festival return for the 11th annual festival, based in Pickering. Jazz lovers will be in for a treat with numerous concerts being played throughout the week at the Memorial Hall, as well as fringe events taking place within the town.

 

Sunday 23rd July - Roman Festival 

A celebration of Roman life in Malton at the Malton Museum. Open from 10:30 - 3:30pm, it is a day of fun with live action demonstrations of the Roman Cavalry and battle re-enactments. There will be plenty of fun activities for the children with mosaic making and the chance to sign up to the 'Children's Roman Army' where recruits will be put through their paces. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun for the whole family.

 

 

Tuesday 25th July - Ryedale Show 

The Ryedale Show is a traditional agricultural show is held at Welburn Park, Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire YO62 7HQ. Expect sheep, horses, pigs and goats. Sheep dog trials from both adults and children as well as regional produce and stalls. 

 

Saturday 29th July - Meadowfest 

Hosted by VisitMalton the music festival is set in the gardens and on the riverside of The Talbot in Malton. Chesney Hawkes is headlining the festival alongside lots of other bands offering a relaxed, sunny vibe.  It's a family festival of joyful music, great food and drink - all set in the most stunning of settings.

 

 

Tuesday 1st August - Egton Bridge Gooseberry Show 

If you are a gooseberry grower then this is a show you won't want to miss. Located 8 miles from Whitby, it is the host to the oldest surviving gooseberry show, established in 1800. The show is open to the public at 2pm, with music and prize giving at 6pm. 

 

Saturday 12th August -  Monday 14th August - Whitby Regatta 

Whitby Regatta is a weekend filled with yacht racing, rowing and lots of family entertainment. The Red Arrows will be wowing people with their aerobatic display on Sunday afternoon.  It will conclude with a spectacular firework show on Monday evening. 

 

 

Friday 25th August - Monday 28th August - Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta

Held at Castle Howard, the Yorkshire Balloon Fiesta is not just about hot air balloons but also musical performances, with Eurovision superstar Sam Ryder headlining the event. There will also be performances from Ella Henderson and Sister Sledge. For the children, Justin Fletcher aka Mr Tumble, will be there as well as Andy Day and the Oddsocks. If you fancy keeping fit then none other than Mr Motivator will be there.

 

Saturday 26th August - Sunday 27th August - Malton Food Lovers Festival

Always a popular event, the Malton Food Lovers Festival is the ultimate food festival hosted in Yorkshire food capital. It's a celebration of Yorkshire's finest produce as well as street food, demonstrations, live music and children's entertainment. Celebrity chefs lined up for this Summer's festival are David Atherton from Great British Bake off and Benoit Blin from Bake Off the Professionals. 

 

 

There is a lot happening in the North York Moors this summer to keep the whole family occupied.
